An unauthorized outdoor fire at an construction company in the town of Cortlandville got out of hand Thursday afternoon.
Homer firefighters responded a fire involving piles of old Astroturf at the Adhan Piping Company located on Route 13 near the intersection of Lighthouse Hill road.
The fire was reported just before 1230 Thursday afternoon.

In addition to Homer and Cortlandville, Cortland and Preble were placed on standby.
