Governor Getting More Help For Those Affected By Sandy
More help is coming for those affected downstate by hurricane Sandy.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo yesterday directed the New York National Guard to deploy an additional 600 Citizen Soldiers to assist in the restoration of the electrical grid in Westchester and Rockland counties.

The new mobilization will bring the strength of New York National Guard forces deployed in response to Hurricane Sandy to over 3,400. More than 470 military vehicles are being used in operations on Long Island and in New York City.

And Governor Cuomo on Thursday night signed an Executive Order to allow distributors and transporters to bring gasoline, diesel, and kerosene into the State of New York without having to meet the usual registration requirements, which can help alleviate the current gas shortages in are as affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Currently, transporters and distributors must be registered with the State Department of Taxation and Finance. This Executive Order would temporarily suspend those registration requirements.
