Tompkins County Going Solar
Tompkins County is installing solar panels on seven County buildings, the investment is expected to significantly lower county energy costs.

Solar Liberty is installing the panels as part of a 15-year lease agreement with Tompkins County.  The county will pay just over $14,000 a year to lease the panels; they are expected to reduce county energy costs by $13 thousand dollars a year.

The solar panels will generate 235 kiloWatt's of electricity.   Each installation takes about two days, followed by some additional electrical work.

At the end of the lease the county may choose to have Solar Liberty remove the panels, negotiate a lease extension, or purchase the panels at their market value.
