Tompkins County lawmakers have recommended a budget that increases spending over what is recommended by the County Administrator; taxpayers can weigh in at a public hearing on the 13th.
Tompkins lawmakers have approved a budget that increase the county tax rate to $6.80 per thousand dollars assessed property value, that’s 13 cents higher than the current rate and 2 cents higher than the rate recommend in county administrator’s budget.
If approved the county tax bill for a home assessed at $160 thousand dollars would be $1,088.
Members of the public are welcome to comment on the proposed budget during a public hearing at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the County Courthouse lawmakers are expected to vote on the final budget Nov. 20th.
