County I-D-A Voting Today on Byrne Dairy Processing Plant
The Cortland County Industrial Development Agency is set to vote today on a multi-million dollar dairy processing facility that could bring over a 100 jobs to the County.
Ultra Dairy LLC, a division of Byrne Dairy is looking to acquire space in the County’s 127-acre business park on Route 13 in Cortlandville. The company wants to build a dairy processing plant there to produce yogurt.
Details of the multi phase dairy processing facility have been limited, including how much land the project may require, how many jobs it will actually create, and what type of investment the company plans to make.
The project will likely be eligible for payment in lie of tax subsidies, as well as other tax breaks.
The I-D-A board will meet this afternoon to vote on the project, following that meeting an announcement with Byrne Dairy officials is planned at the business park.
Byrne Dairy currently has three dairy processing plants; this would be the company’s first venture outside Onondaga County
County I-D-A Director Gary VanGorder did say the project includes an agri-tourism component as well, the company may be looking to utilize the existing Osbeck farm which sits next to the business Park as a visitors center.
