Cortland County Among CNY Counties Declared Disaster Areas Due To Summer Drought
Cortland is among nine New York counties that have been declared disaster areas due to crop damage caused by summer droughts.

The U.S.. Department of Agriculture has determined that Cortland, Broome, Chenango, Madison, Tioga, Oneida and Otsego,Oswego and Herkimer counties have sustained sufficient financial losses to be designated as disaster areas, which makes farmers in the affected counties eligible for FSA emergency loans.

Farmers in eligible counties have until January to apply for emergency loan assistance.

The loans will be based on the extent of production losses, security available and repayment ability.
