Tompkins Budget Committee Considering Revisions to 2013 County Budget
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
Tompkins County Legislators are closing in on a final 2013 budget.
Seven weeks after receiving a recommended 2013 County Budget from Tompkins County Administrator Joe Mareane, lawmakers on the Budget Committee have started to propose changes to the spending budget.
The committee has added over $64 thousand dollars in additional spending to the proposed budget. If approved by the full legislature the 2013 tax levy would increase by nearly 4% and the average county tax rate would stand at $6.79 per thousand dollars assessed property value, up 12 cents from the 2012 rate.
The Budget Committee’s proposed changes come after meeting with county departments and agencies.
The Budget Committee resumes deliberations Thursday, October 27th; the final budget is expected to be voted on in November.
