Two Virgil Men Charged Following Separate Domestic Disputes
Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies have made two separate arrests stemming from domestic related incidents.
County Police have charged 49 year old Mark Gleason of 2945 Webb Road Virgil
With Harassment and Criminal Mischief.
Police say last Sunday the County 911 Center received a report of a disturbance at Gleason’s home.
An unidentified woman said she had been involved in a verbal dispute with Gleason, the argument then turned physical.
Deputies say during the fight Gleason is accused of taking the womans phone to prevent her from calling the police and he also damaged the phone.
Gleason was arraigned at the Town of Virgil Court where he was released on his own recognizance he was due back there July 10th.
In the second incident 50 year old James Brown of 2737 Route 215 Virgil was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Harassment and 1 count of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation.
On Monday Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a dispute at Browns Virgil home.
Police say Brown was involved in a fight with his spouse. The couples two teenage daughters attempted to separate them.
Brown is accused of grabbing one of the girls by the throat and then punched her in the face. Police say Brown then attempted to grab the second child by the throat.
Both children had minor but visible injuries, neither child sought medical treatment.
Brown fled prior to police arrival, he was picked up on a at a relative’s house in the City of Cortland. He was taken into custody without incident. Brown was arraigned in Virgil Town Court and released; he’s due back there on August 21st.
