The Center for the Arts of Homer and the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce are combining efforts and giving the community the opportunity to decide who has some of the best barbeque in town.
Next Saturday July 21st, during the Holiday in Homer, at The Center for the Arts parking lot on Main St. in Homer, the Chamber is hosting the 1st ever Cortland barbeque challenge.
Three of the areas best BBQ caterers will be cooking and serving the public from 1:00 to 4:00. Each will bring their signature items for sale and a share of the proceeds will be donated to The Center for the Arts. The BBQ outfit with the most sales will be dubbed the winner.
Cortland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Haight says “This is the first time we’ve had such a contest but each BBQ vendor has excellent fare and we expect it to be well attended.”Haight went on to say “We want the word to spread that Cortland County is an excellent place for BBQ.”
The Center for the Arts will top off the day with a concert by Pure Prairie League beginning at 8pm, doors open at 7:00pm.
