Cortland Man Arrested in Multi-County Equipment Theft Investigation
A Cortland man is facing charges after Tioga County Police recovered over $150 thousand dollars in stolen equipment. Some of the items were taken from here in Cortland County.
Tioga Police have charged 28 year old Dana Lansdowne of Cortland following a three month long investigation that spanned several counties.
Back on April 27, deputies began looking into the theft of ATVs and equipment from a construction business in Tioga County.
In Cayuga County, deputies found stolen heavy equipment including an equipment trailer from Tioga County.
Additional leads took investigators to Orleans County, where more stolen equipment was found.
Investigators say the items were linked to Tioga, Cayuga, Cortland, and Orleans counties, and the Syracuse area. The stolen items included two equipment trailers, a CAT excavator, a CAT skid steer, two ATVs, equipment attachments for the skid steer, and a Kubota utility vehicle.
Lansdowne was arrested in Cayuga County for the crime. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
