Cortlandville Planners Approve Shoe Dept. Store on Bennie Road
Cortlandville planners have granted final approvals to another planned multi-tenet commercial retail development; the new retail building will be located across Benny Road from the Super Walmart store will include a national shoe store and eventually a clothing store.
The plan calls for the construction of a 10 thousand square foot building on a vacant parcel directly across from the Walmart Super Center.
Crown Court the development arm of the National Shoe chain Shoe Show, which is the parent company of the footwear store Show Department is putting up the new store, Shoe Department will occupy half the new building and a yet to be named clothing store will be in the other half.
The planning board previously raised some concerns with the project; including and the color of the buildings exterior.
The developer returned last night with a plan to limit left hand turns out of the store, and also plans to make the brick and metal faced resemble that of Walmart’s current design.
The developer hopes to break ground in October, and open the store by Easter. Dennis Norwood with Crown Court Development says the company expects to a have a lease with the clothing retailer in place ahead of construction, he would not disclose what clothing chain may take the space.
