Chenango County Man Who Had Shootout With Police Charged With Attempted Murder
Saturday, September 29, 2012
A 41-year-old man wounded last month in a shootout with Chenango County Sheriff's Deputies on a rural road has been charged with attempted murder.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlets that Patrick Ford of Norwich was charged after being released from a Syracuse hospital where he had been treated since the Aug. 30 shootout in the town of Pitcher, 35 miles southeast of Syracuse.
Authorities say Ford was driving his pickup truck with his 9-year-old son as a passenger when he got into a minor accident outside a home. When deputies arrived, Ford fired about a dozen rounds at them. The deputies then shot and wounded Ford.
The son wasn't injured.
Ford is being held in the county jail without bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
