United Way of Cortland County Kicks Off Campaign to Raise $550k
The Cortland County United Way kicked off its annual fundraising campaign yesterday, with the annual day of caring breakfast and food drive.
This years campaign chairs are Ellin Pantas of the Cortland Child Development Centers and Christella Yonta with the Seven Valleys Health Coalition.
The United Way Campaign looks to generate money to support not for profit agencies that serve residents here in Cortland County. The money supports 14 member agencies like the Salvation Army Catholic Charities, boy scouts and several others.
This year’s campaign goal is $550 thousand dollars. Over the past couple years the campaign has kicked off with the Wendy Thibeault Memorial Food Drive, Thibeault who was killed in 2008, was a big supporter of the local food pantry program and the day is aimed to support her memory and stock local pantries. Over 400 tons of food have been colleted through the drive.
The United Way Board of Directors also took time Thursday to recognize Executive Director Cindy Eberhart who has served the agency for 25 years.
